Cramond Island
At the outbreak of World War II, Cramond Island was fortified to protect the coasts in the event of enemy warships entering the channel. This is a row of concrete pylons, constructed as a submarine defence boom, which runs alongside the causeway on which you can walk out to Cramond Island.
Beautiful evening cycle down to Cramond this evening on my new birthday bicycle received yesterday. It's great, it's now seven weeks since my birthday and I'm still getting pressies - it's just like being five again rather than fifty!
