Tony

One Street: Market Square, Shipley #77

A scintillatingly sunny day here, and looking at a few blips it seems like it's been the same across the whole country. Unfortunately, I've seen nothing of it except for a couple of minutes on the Square this lunchtime. It's made me very twitchy and more than a little grumpy. It's a long time since I've experienced such a strong feeling of wanting to be somewhere else.

I had a quick chat with Tony here, enjoying a fag in the sun while waiting for his bus. He's 72 years of age and served for many years in the armed services. He said he'd lived all over the world but never found anywhere that he preferred to Shipley, where he was born and brought up. He always came back here, now for good. He seemed a pretty content fellow.

Odd to return home tonight to find the lights on in the house, both my lads back for the weekend as it's their cricket presentation dinner tomorrow evening. It's Roam's first return to the nest in two months. He's loving University life in London. Things have definitely moved on for him. Looking forward to catching up with both of them this evening. They've already put their dinner request in!
