Life in a Northern Town

Former Glory

We walked along a particularly unlovely stretch of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal today, and came across this building.

The traces of its former glory intrigued me, I am sure it was industrial but the stained glass and stonework around the window might suggest otherwise. It is gradually being reclaimed by nature.

The unloveliness of the scenery matched my mood - if I am to do this job I need to develop a much higher tolerance of people who have no initiative.

Last night on our late walk, Lizzie and I met a very handsome fox. A stand-off ensued, but the fox cracked first and ran away - much sniffing and investigating followed but he was long gone.
