I had an earlyish wake up call this morning and went to get breakfast for the first time! I asked for toast behind the reception but today apparently was a non toasting day! The man kept trying to get me to to try this weird coconut jam. Told him the red radio active jam is good for me. So I had a jam sandwich for breakfast. I asked if we could book a bus to Penang but in the hostels here they don't book buses and stuff for you. So they gave me some terrible directions to the bus station. Woke up Morag and we packed our bags. We had to pay to leave them in their cupboard which was annoying. We went to find the bus station which was an absolutely nightmare. The people out here have no idea of distance. We went up a radom lift and come to a floor with masses of empty boxes...definitely wasn't the bus station! We then realised we had to walk for about a mile to get there. The bus station was very confusing we finally found the place where we could buy tickets. Found the cheapest ones by walking around and asking each desk! After the bus station we bought some cheap Cath Kidston bags and Marc Jacobs ones to send back home and give as presents. We then ran back to the hostel grabbed our bags and ran to the bus station as we thought we were going to be late. Definitely didn't have to run. We waited for a rather long time. There was a super weird man with the most annoying girl with him. He kept touching Morag's shoulder and being creepy. Luckily the bus came, so our escape was made. However, the annoying girl that was with him got on. The buses in Malaysia are luxury, just like the VIP one in Myanmar. So it was a nice surprise for us. W were at the back of the bus with lots of space. The views on the way were nice, I think we drove through the Cameron Highlands where we were considering doing a trek but decided against it. To get to Penang there was a huge bridge crossing onto the island. Couldn't believe how long it was. I climbed over Morag to get a picture of the skyscrapers with the beach and hills in the background. I looked like a fool as I fell and everyone turned around! Also I didn't even get the picture. At the bus station we had to take a taxi to George Town. The taxi man was nice and drove us around lots of different hostels. We found Reggae Penang so we are going to stay there for a couple of nights. The rooms are so cool. We have a little cubby hole each with a curtain so it is almost like your own little room. They are very spacious too as you can stand up in them. We ate at a little place nearby. The man was very persuasive on making us have pudding! After eating we went back to the hostel.
The picture is at the cool bar in KL last night overlooking the petronas towers.
