Goat on Broad Street!
More goatee in large ("L").
Statistics day: the goat was a very welcome discovery. I was walking along chatting on the phone to my mother...
"... there's a goat!?"
"A goat?"
"A goat on Broad Street; it's a goat, on Broad Street!"
"Right, off you go... Speak soon."
So, it turns out that he isn't just a goat, but the goat: the star of the book, "Do Goats Go To Heaven?".
He's called Shreddie, and he's five years old; he lives with Pea Brodhurst. I found him waiting opposite Blackwell's, as Pea was in there discussing their book. She raised Shreddie from a kid, and it was wonderful how he waited expectantly for her to return; he was calm and self-contained, then she emerged from the shop and he got all excited and pulled towards her on his lead.
What a charming character!
p.s. The hand in this picture actually belongs to a member of staff from Blackwell's who'd gone out to meet Shreddie...
