This church is at one end of the famous high street in Marlborough. We had to walk past it this evening as we had to take a trip to the sports shop to buy a gum shield for A.

The present building was erected in 1460 on the site of a smaller church which had been built to serve the nearby Norman Castle.
The future Cardinal Wolsey was ordained Priest in St Peter's in 1498.
The parish of St Peter's included the entire High Street.
The Church underwent a major restoration in 1863.
St Peter's closed as a parish church in 1974 and remained empty, unheated and locked until 1978.
The St Peter's Trust (Charity No. 275557), formed in 1978 when the church was threatened with at least partial demolition, now manages the building as a community centre in the interests of both those who live in Marlborough and the many visitors to the Town.
