Glasgow Cathedral

Sad occasion brought me here today, to the funeral of The Very Reverend Dr William Morris. Dr Morris had been the Minister of the Cathedral from 1967 - 2005, retiring at the age of Eighty. Thirty Eight years of service to his congregation and the City of Glasgow. He had also been Dean of the Chapel Royal in Scotland, and Honorary Chaplain to the Queen.

A compassionate and caring man, who reached out his hand to anyone, from Her Majesty, to the man on the street. He oversaw the detail of so many occasions, from state celebrations, to great sadness. His son read from 1 Corinthians 13, giving emphasis to the last verse
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

From Historic Scotland website : "Glasgow Cathedral is built on the site where St Kentigern, or Mungo, the first bishop within the ancient British kingdom of Strathclyde, was thought to have been buried in AD 612. The present cathedral was built during the 13th to 15th centuries. It is the only medieval cathedral on the Scottish mainland to have survived the 1560 Reformation virtually complete."
