Homeward Bound

Second and final day of my tutoring course today at the George Inn on Borough High Street. Beautiful building and a great venue for training. The inn was known to Shakespeare in its previous incarnation (it was destroyed by fire in 1600s) and was mentioned in Dickens' 'Little Dorrit'. I arrived early and looked for a 'caff' as I fancied a traditional English fry up for breakfast. A veggie one at least. Closest I could get was a full English/Moroccan fusion with scrambled eggs, toast, baked beans...plus hummus and felafel. Interesting... At lunch time I went on a brownie hunt to konditori and cook. They came highly recommended and I wasn't disappointed!
After the course ended I had a couple of hours left to spare in the capital so headed up to Regent Street and did some Xmas shopping in Hamley's and Liberty. Really felt the early festive spirit. London is very pretty this time of year. The journey back to Kings Cross was a bit tricky as there was an incident at Oxford Circus that shut the tube entrance, so I had to catch a bus instead, which was driven by a good old fashioned cockney geezer. Got back, ran to collect bag from hotel ( which a staff member had very kindly put under her own name to save me from paying the ten pounds charge!) and ran back to the station in time to catch the train home. This is a photo of the stunning new station roof at Kings Cross. I got to say goodnight to the girls and hubby via FaceTime. Grace looked very smart in her new Beavers uniform. She was invested tonight - gutted to miss that. Still, I'm on my way back up north now on the train and will be home around midnight. I'll see my girls in the morning. Briefly. Got to go to work the next two days! Busy busy. As ever. :)))
