The Arch of Trajan, Makhtar

Makhatar was a Numidian settlement of the second century BC. Eventually after living through "interesting times" the town was incorporated into the Roman Province of Africa Nova in 46 BC.

This triumphal arch at the head of a large forum beautifully paved in marble, was dedicated to the Emperor Trajan in AD 116.
