Remembrance

This poppy is hanging in the window of a neighbours house and caught my eye a couple days ago as I took Jewelz out in the morning. I think the light must have been better when I first saw it as it stood out more crisply but I knew that I'd have to come back to it today for a blip.

It's not a great photo (as I felt awkward pointing my camera into someone else's house even with their curtains drawn)and it was a very dull grey morning (in fact all day). This is my first attempt at colour popping. It took me a lot longer than 25mins like the book said but I got there in the end. You never know I may even remember how to do it…..hhmmmm!

Today was an ok day. It felt like a proper 'primary' school day as I decided to take the day to actually teach the kids about Remembrance Day. We watched a couple of video clips, made poppies, had discussions, listened to music, wrote what we though and sang. I'm not sure that it would have ticked all the 'Ofsted' boxes but I think my kids have a better understanding about what this day means!

I left school early (4pm) in order to drive back to the fish shop that I had visited only yesterday! ……. Why is it that the bulb in the fish tank decided to go just as I had come BACK from the shop?!?
Knowing I'd be leaving early I packed my camera but of course it was a dull dark day all day. Not the beautiful colours of yesterday. And it was dark by the time I came out of the shop, even though there wasn't much in the timing from yesterday.
I stopped to take a few shots anyway and got a couple that I like. I heard some geese flying but couldn't see them. It felt good to be out! Had a nice drive home along the back roads but ended up feeling a bit flat as I got home after doing the grocery shopping. Perked up a little while working on this shot (after I'd got over the frustration of not knowing how it works and it taking so much longer than I thought it would)!!
