Fire & Frost

Woke up to a flawless sky and despite a brain tumour of a hangover decided that I had to go out & make the most of the day. Luna & I walked across the fields, pain in head soon forgotten, the perfection of the day leaving me breathless. Down the lanes where the sun hadn't penetrated the air was freezing and yet as soon as I moved out into the light I had to shed a layer. Everywhere the sound of water dripping, melting & bubbling. In the leafless trees weightless birds - a wren, a robin and a nuthatch - darted in and out of the chill shadows. On the way back across the fields I saw this patch of light where yesterday it had been all mud and mire.
