Charles Henry Simmonds (Grandpa)

Fought in WW1 and contracted meningitis in the trenches. He was invalided out of the war and awarded the Kings Silver Medal. This was awarded to all soldiers who had served but were unfit to return to the front after injury. I never saw him not wearing it!
