WALTON MILL HOUSE, AYLESBURY

This poor looking specimen is a Grade II listed building & is the last remaining remnant of a Mill in Aylesbury. It mainly dates from the 18th & 19th Century but there are also traces of the 16th century. It is located off Park Street and sits very close the the canal. Bear brook is also very close & may have been the original source of the Mill Race. I can vaguely remember (probably 30years ago) walking along Mill Lane on the other side of the town & seeing the remains of the Mill there . Today it is long gone & has been replaced by houses.

Its interesting to note that it is called Walton Mill House & so most likely was in the old parish of Walton which is where I live also. .

Despite it being Remembrance Sunday I went out intentionally to photograph this building which is deteriorating quite quickly now. I went & looked at it a few years ago & it was quite healthy, however today the roof is open to the elements & the vandals have been in...there's not much hope for it really, & would guess that the owner sees it as a "Millstone" around his neck.

A fabulous sunny day today with lots of people around.

I chucked a Cottage Pie together before my "outing" all that's left to do is to prepare some cauliflower.
