Lest We Forget

A day of Remembrance….I don’t know the people who these poppies are for, but I do know that they gave their lives for us.

I read in the national news yesterday that gentleman aged 99 died last week on his own, no family by his side, a war hero, a huge campaign has been put into motion and now the church is expecting over 200 people to turn up to give him a hero send off. His great and only nephew will represent the family; the other members cannot make it! He never married nor had children of his own…..I did choke back the tears!
I wonder who will represent all the WW1 & WW2 veterans when they all pass away…I hope their families do and wear the medals with pride. I love seeing my dad’s medals, I must get him to tell me about each one again and make some notes.

This afternoon will be spent preparing a nice lamb roast and then I will be hitting the assignment and then relaxing to watch the final of Downton!
