Flailing flames

There is something hypnotic about the dancing flames of a bonfire, but only a long exposure reveals the sprite like trails left by the flyaway embers.

The entire day was taken up clearing up and cleaning the kids bedrooms, a six monthly ordeal for us all, but job done, we all feel better for it. A sort of kids feng shui.
After a day like that, we all needed to get out and about, so we had particular reason to look forward to going to friend Zoe's fireworks party. The exploded with energy, fueled by the thrill of a small fire to toast marshmallows, the grown ups simultaneously warmed and chilled by the flames of the bonfire, with mulled cider.
The fell asleep in the car going home.
