Gemma & David
Today was a great day at work! I've had a run of very stressful weddings recently, where I've felt that circumstances (weather, timelines, videographers...) have meant that I haven't really been able to shoot in the style that I love. But today was my kind of wedding: a venue that I know well, a lovely and very photogenic couple, good weather, not too many portraits, two (count 'em, two!) formal family photos, lots of time for documentary photography and real happiness and emotion all day.
There were also a couple of firsts. I had to go searching for the priest when the bride arrived at the top of the aisle to find that he was missing (which might have been ever so slightly my fault for giving an early nod to the musicians... still, it gave everyone a laugh!). Secondly I was recognised by a blipper at a wedding for the first time! I have to apologise to bri for having absolutely no idea what he was talking about when he came up to me and said "Dear Photo Diary", I totally forgot that my journal was even called that! But once the penny dropped it was lovely to have a quick chat :)
I'm still downloading the cards from this wedding and there are so many photos that I love, if I sifted through them all it would be another couple of days before I blipped, so I quickly chose this one. A lovely natural moment that really sums up how happy Gemma and David are together, and how much fun this wedding was.
