Announcing... A New Peanut...

...In the family! I alluded to some upcoming Big News and I am now thrilled to reveal that our niece gave birth to Jonathon this week, weighing in at 6 pounds, 10 ounces with a head full of curly dark hair and a face that is sure to break lots of hearts when he's a little older. For now, he's melting hearts, including ours. This is our third Grand Nephew and our only regret is that we don't live closer to be able to spoil them all relentlessly.

And, in case you are wondering, my niece has always referred to the babies as "peanuts" before they are born - hence the reference in today's blip. And don't you think the titmouse looks properly thrilled, too? (And do you like how I worked in a bit of red, too?)

Had a great walk this morning with the Audubon group, our last of the year. We saw 37 species of birds, plus a bunch of meadowhawk dragons and two types of butterfly. The dragons and butterflies were a bit of a surprise since the morning temps were in the low 30's (Fahrenheit).
