Open the gate please!

We went to Osterley for a walk and lunch. National Trust tea rooms are usually very good. This swan was standing at this gate and he did look as if he was waiting for someone to open the gate. I know to be wary of these gentle looking birds but a couple came along and we heard the lady saying that the man should open the gate. As he approached the gate with hand outstretched the swan gave an almighty Hisssss. Whereupon the man retreated swiftly. We all laughed and the gentleman agreed he was better to keep well clear.
We had a pleasant afternoon and the rain stayed off while we were out.
