The Bunnet Stane

I was fascinated by gen2's blip back in August of the Bunnet Stane.

It was filed away on our 'must visit' list and today Mr Flum suggested we take a look. We arrived in one of many showers of rain so, after lunch in a nearby farm shop, tried again.

Access is not difficult as there is a small parking area on the unclassified road, so we had a walk of ¾ mile (1200m) on reasonable - if wet - path up to the stone.

The Bunnet stane (or Bonnet Stone) is part of a calciferous sandstone outcrop which is very friable (easily crumbled) and its strange shape was formed by wind erosion.
