Haematopus Ostralegus!
I prefer to call this handsome fellow an oystercatcher. My sister and I journeyed east today to Cockenzie and Port Seaton where we enjoyed a bracing walk by the harbour. The oystercatchers were scurrying about on the rocks, quite some distance away so the image is not quite as sharp as I would like. The bright orange beak is probably the most distinguishing feature on these coastal birds.
