Der Berg

Heute stelle ich euch den Berg oder sollte es ein Hügel genannt werden?

Many of my Blips have been taken whilst I've been either running or walking on the Heiligenberg hence the title 'Heute auf dem Berg'but today I crossed the river and walked through the fields on the other side allowing me this autumnal view of the Berg. You can *almost* make out our house at the bottom

The Heiligenberg (Holy Mountain) is 389m and I try to run (or sometimes walk) up and down everyday; it keeps me fit and I love the views from the top. The castle ruins on the top date from the middle ages but there is archaeological evidence of Celtic settlements (something which particularly pleases me). There are a number of walking trails - including an art trail, the flora and fauna is varied and the variety of birds and wildlife amazing.

I've come to think of it as "our" (Herr Lenz and I's) Berg as we hardly ever see anybody else up there. Selfish, but we kind of want to keep it that way.

On a COMPLETELY different note; Herr L returns from Tokyo tomorrow and I can't wait!! My trips up the hill have been lonely without him.
