early in the morning, just as day is dawning..
This is our local post box. Look at the tiny slot! It was designed to take little handwritten letters, sometime during the reign of George V1 (1936-1952). Fortunately, we can leave letters on our doorstep and the postie will collect them and put them in his sack.
I think the postal service is amazing. I can put a letter in this box and lunchtime and it will be in my parents' hands the next morning. Yes, I could email, text or phone them, but who doesn't like receiving a letter, a postcard or a birthday card?
And I like to think of all the handwritten letters which have been sent through this box over the years..
