The birthday

Today my husband turns 40.

We met at university and got together about a month after his 20th birthday.

I arranged a special collection from family and friends to get him a new camera (Olympus Pen Lite). He's chuffed to bits. It was a total surprise as I asked his boss to buy it so he wouldn't see it on our credit card.

My friend made a cake in the shape of the camera. No candles as didn't want to set off smoke alarms!

We're in hospital until tomorrow now as the drug levels in Alex's blood are still too high and he needs further drugs to protect his kidneys and liver, as well as constant hydration.

We celebrated in the hospital room - I put up balloons and bunting. It looks quite festive!
