BRIDGE THAT GAP
Welcome to Filey, UK. As part of the sea defences, this area provides an escape channel for excess seawater during storms and high tides, as well as enabling pedestrians to walk the whole length of the seafront promenade.
For over a hundred years the bridge has withstood whatever storms came this way . . . but if you view this image large, you will be able to see the extent of the corrosion within the framework of the structure.
This splendid footbridge, spanning what is known locally as Bridge Hole, has come to the end . . . it is to be replaced, at a cost of £57K, with a new footbridge ! I only hope that the new version has some architectural detail to provide a pleasant view.
Sporting News – congratulations to jockey A P McCoy who won the 3.10 race at Towcester today on board a horse called Mountain Tunes . . . special because this was winner number 4000 for AP.
