The main runway at what used to be RAF Upper Heyford, almost one mile long.

Upper Heyford became in 1918 the first Royal Air Force base and the one upon which later bases were modelled. The Canadian Air force started its life here. It ended its operational life as a USAF base for F1-11s, and closed in 1994. Now the runway us mainly used for storing cars.
