Our kids are definitely a product of the 21st Century while their parents were definitely left to their own devices brought up in the 70s/80s. No more apparent than when it comes to letting off fireworks!

Tonight we have had the kids chirping endlessly on "do you have a bucket of water in case of burns?", "don't light a sparkler near the fireworks", "don't light more than one at a time", "stand back, stand back, stand back!". Don't get me wrong I am all for a bit of common sense and safety BUT it has been so drilled into these kids' heads that they now spend all their time 'worrying' about what might go wrong rather than just enjoying the show!

Being chased around by Jumping Jack firecrackers as a kid never did me any harm - in fact I know I loved it!
