Heading in the wrong direction...

This surfer looks like he's heading to surf the fields but that is just a trick of composition as I was standing close by the sea's edge. He is heading up the far end of Barns Ness beach all on his own.

We'd chatted to him previously as he stood looking out to sea and doing preparatory exercises for at least half an hour before settiing off for the sea. We'd asked him about the surfers further back along the road and he explained that they congregated there to surf the "Big Wave" which tends to hit that particular bit of the beach but he preferred to surf on his own away from the crowd. We queried whether that was not dangerous as this is a particularly rocky stretch of beach. He shrugged his shoulders as if to say "C'est la Vie".

Unfortunately we were not able to see and photograph him surfing as we were headed in the opposite direction back to the car. My guesss is that he was quite an experienced surfer and therefore probably well worth watching. However, that was not to be - "C'est la Vie"
