Living in Brabant

By AilsaR

It's just the sun rising

After work last night, I did some more stripping, sanding, washing down walls and filling in holes in my soon-to-be-new-bedroom that is the loft conversion. Several hours later I stepped back and it didn't seem as if I'd done much at all!

This morning though, I went up there before work, and by daylight did notice the difference, I also noticed this vibrant sunrise. Thank heavens for the new windows!

After work today I did some more of the same, bit by bit, it's looking good.

Spoke to mum today, dad has been stable for some time now, was eating, and generally joining in with things at the home. We know he'll never get better, but the fact that he was being fed, was clean and warm, gave us some solace.

Unfortunately he has suddenly taken a turn for the worst and has now refused to eat and get up and about. The home has taken the decision to transfer him to a hospital.

I thought of dad when I saw the sun rise this morning; he used to put on the record Sun Arise when I was a child, and I'd do a little dance.
Losing his dignity, zest for life and the ability to move around has unfortunately taken its toll on him. I really feel for him.
