Eyes on the Prize

The Melbourne Cup takes place on the first Tuesday in November.
It was first run in 1861 and holds the country in its thrall.
Not for nothing is it known as 'the race that stops the nation'.

People who never normally gamble, like myself, put a few dollars on a horse whose name takes their fancy.
It's considered unAustralian (God forbid!) not to.

Sadly, I lost my $20, but Carl and Michael cleaned up nicely.

I'd gone up to the local to place my bet and photograph the action, but there wasn't much:(
