Tawny Frogmouth In The Shopping Centre

As I walked through the shopping centre today to get lunch I noticed a group of people staring at a log. I thought that looked quite odd but didn't take a lot of notice as I was on the phone.

On the way back I got a better look at the log and realised it was a wonderful Australian bird - the Tawny Frogmouth and a completely tame one at that. They do camouflage themselves by keeping still and looking like a log funnily enough :) (Check that link for some more info about these birds if you're interested)

I was one of many that were patting him and taking photos and he just sat and stared at us calmly with his doleful eyes.

There were also goannas, snakes and turtles but this Tawny stole the show, he was so fascinating and completely unafraid of anything.

These wildlife people are going to be there every day this week with different animals each day. I'll be making sure to get the lunch at the right time so that I can check them out!!
