This is not Halloween makeup!
What do you call a day where you nearly lose two family members in to separate traffic accidents? Is that an unlucky day, or a lucky one? I am not sure I know but we are not going out tonight!
This morning Ant got taken out biking to Uni when someone opened their van door in front of him. He did a somersault and landed on his back then hit his head. Thank goodness there were no other cars and he was wearing a helmet. His arm has been Xray-ed and is not broken. Looks a mess though. Lucky for him the helmet, his long-sleeved jacket and his backpack helped lessen the injuries. His bike frame is cracked though.
On the way home tonight Dave saw an accident unfold in front of him when a truck carting a container coming towards him smashed into the rear of a car waiting to turn across in front of Dave (Halswell Road). The car that was hit spun in front of him, missing him and the truck followed. Dave thanked the Defensive Driving course he did years ago as he steered out of the situation (by about 1m he reckons). The rear-ended car was a mess and ambulances, the police and firetrucks were required. He said the truck driver and the other driver were OK but were taken to hospital. The car driver may have internal injuries. Dave was pretty shook up when he finally got home after he talked to the cops.
What a day.
