Beyond words

Friday morning, I attended a poetry reading in my daughter's third grade classroom. I really wasn't sure what to expect being that my girl is fantastically shy. She really hasn't had the opportunity to talk in from of a group like this since she had a small speaking part in her Kindergarten play. I just wasn't sure how she'd do. Beforehand, she did not talk of being nervous, and I didn't bring it up. I just crossed my fingers and got ready for her to be hard to hear. She often talks VERY quietly.

All the kids did great. They were such fabulous listeners for their classmates as well. Here is a shot of my girl finishing up reading a poem she wrote herself. I love how happy and proud she looks. She did fantastic. She also read a silly poem by a published author. She spoke clearly and loud enough for everyone to hear. I just couldn't be more excited for her. What an accomplishment.
