Jockeys, Mount!

This is the moment when you choose which horse to back. I fancied Almadan, here being mounted by Ed Cookson. I thought the horse looked beautiful in the low afternoon sunlight. Good for a place bet in the 3.30 at Huntingdon.

Didn't get me anything off the bookies but no matter - he came back safely and was a joy to look at.

Those jockeys are tough cookies. There were several heavy falls and it was freezing in the wind. No horses were hurt though, although some of the jockeys were shaken up. They certainly are skilled, piloting the horses at 40 mph over 6 ft high fences balanced on minimal saddles. Not for me thanks!
