Bifröst
A shimmering arc,
Pouring colour on the earth.
A bridge for all souls.
It's been a behind kind of day .... up at 5:30 to accompany Greg driving into work for 6. Back to bed. Didn't get up again until late... all my fine plans for the day disrupted. Consequently didn't take the dog out until late, then it started raining.
Was feeling a bit glum about it all, then the sun started to come out a bit and we had that strange combination of dark sky and eerily bright light. Anyway parked by the churchyard, got out of the car and saw this. Serendipity! It didn't last very long but was so bright you could see the colours touching the earth.
Apparently in Norse mythology a rainbow is referred to as Bifröst - the bridge between the earthly realm and Asgard, the realm of the gods. This seems very fitting since it appeared so strongly over the graveyard and just after All Souls Day.
Magical.
