Orla & Conor

The Hallowe'en Party

So we had a party, of sorts, in the end. We put up decorations and Ryan came round. We got the kids all togged up on their costumes and watched (tried to watch) the Strictly Come Dancing Hallowe'en special. It's hard work though, when Orla wants to be centre of attention, Ryan wants to get all the toys out and Conor wants to be on the floor exploring, preferably looking for anything electrical. Orla and I had a bit of a falling out because she wouldn't sit down when I asked her to and as a consequence was responsible for knocking drinks over, twice. On a more positive note, I had a go at making a Mexican "pan de muerto" (with today being All Souls Day, or the Day of the Dead) and was very pleased with the result. Mine was a sweet bread flavoured with orange and fennel seed (the closest I had to anise, the traditional flavouring).
