Shipping Container Shops

Arrived in Christchurch today. It was quite a shock. The city centre has not long re-opened after the earthquake but there are still so many derelict buildings. It just looks like everyone upped and left, which I suppose they did. Nearly 80% of buildings in the centre have to come down and lots of them already have. But there are still so many left damaged by the earthquake.

This new little town centre has popped up though. Coffee shops, banks, designer stores and a post office have all started up out of shipping containers. It looks really cool. This was the first we saw of all the positivity that is now growing around Christchurch city centre.
