Jill & Sharon

Today my cousin Jill (on the left) married her girlfriend Sharon. It was my first ever civil partnership and I wasn't sure what to expect, I don't see Jill very often and don't know Sharon at all, and when I do see Jill she's usually in jeans and a football shirt! But when I saw her walking up the aisle I have to admit I got a bit emotional, she looked absolutely beautiful, and so happy.

Even though Northern Ireland is slowly being dragged into the 21st century, it's still quite an unusual event to have a gay wedding among the small town / rural community that I grew up in. In fact some of Jill's family on her mum's side (not our side thankfully) refused to attend the wedding, which I think is really sad. And honestly, it's their loss, because they missed a fantastic family occasion, full of love and laughter.

As you can probably tell from this photo, I wasn't the official photographer, but I was ordered by my family to get off my ass and take a shot of them signing the register :)
