Montmartre
This morning we took the Metro to Montmartre - a part of Paris that neither of us had really explored before.
Of course, we couldn't go to Montmartre without doing something related to the film, Amelie. We tracked down the cafe in the film the "Cafe des 2 Moulins" where we had a really good lunch.
After that it was a steep climb up to the Sacre-Coeur for views across Paris and then a leisurely stroll through the narrow streets. As we were wandering we came across these two gentlemen playing a game of chess.
After leaving Montmartre we walked all the way back to Montparnasse and passing by the Opera, Place Vendome and the Louvre.
The highlight of the day was taking in the views of Paris from the viewing platform at the very top of the Tour de Montparnasse. At 59 floors up and over 200m you really do get the very best views of Paris. We got there just before 6pm and got to see the light show of the Eiffel Tower.
To see the Eiffel Tower in all its glory check out Rob T's blip for today.
