Woodwax

Hygrophorus Hypothejus - The Herald of Winter
I saw my friend off back home this morning then went straight off to the foray I was leading. The weather was quite dull and drizzly, but we managed to find over 50 species, and rounded the morning off with a lovely bowl of home made soup and freshly baked bread, so a very worthwhile outing. I blipped this fungus just about a year ago, and there were plenty around today. It is one of the woodwaxes, the woodland relative of the waxcaps. This was a lovely cluster and I would have loved to have been able to take a bit of time to really do it justice, but it had to be a quick snapshot.
