Another Day, Another Walk
After yesterday's rain and curtailed walk I got up reasonably early and took the dogs to the woods. I thought I would try a new one today that I had heard about but never before done. We went to a Forestry Commission wood on Ord Hill just south of Inverness.
Dogs always love a new place, new smells to explore. They had a brilliant time and the bes thing as far as I was concerned was the lack of mud - the nightmare of the dog walker! As it is mainly a fir tree wood the ground is covered in pine needles which makes for a very porous surface so all water seeps down. It was very dark though.
I had to watch Poppy all the time as she obviously could smell deer and pheasants, she was good, came back to the whistle every time but I couldn't relax as she was venturing further and further into the deep dark woods. Bud tends to stay closer to me.
