Life is a Challenge!

BE CLEAR ON CANCER

Mr. HCB and I went out shopping this morning and wandered through the Vintage Market in the Royal Arcade. I took several photographs and decided that one of them would be my blip for the day.

However, that was before we met this lovely lady, called Louise, at a stand in the Sovereign Centre, where she and a nurse colleague, Vikki, were there on an NHS initiative, "If you notice any blood in your pee, even if it's 'just the once', tell your doctor."

This is to make people aware of kidney and bladder cancer, how to spot it and how important it is to see your doctor . If you live in the UK you will probably have heard the radio and television adverts in the last few days.

I told her about my blips for Pinktober , asked if I could take a photograph of her and she was happy to agree. We had a conversation about the word "pee" - as we felt that it was not really an appropriate word - at least not to those of our generation. Louise said that there had been a lot of discussion about the use of this word, and both Mr. HCB and I felt that to use the correct term "urine" would have been better. I guess if it gets the message across though, it doesn't really matter and we told Louise that we both realised how important it was to be aware of the various forms of cancer.

Louise and Vikki tour all over the UK, building their stand in shopping centres and then they stay for 2 days before moving on to the next place. They visit charity shops and generally try to make people aware of the various forms of cancer.

Two lovely ladies doing a very worthwhile job - so please BE CLEAR ON CANCER and for more information on this particular initiative, please have a look at the website.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, fellow blippers, it's sunny now, but high winds are promised again for tomorrow, so batten down the hatches and stay safe.
