I remember when all this was fields...

Welcome to our local 'grand projet', the ligne grande vitesse. Construction of the lgv sud-atlantique began at the turn of the year after years of planning and negotiations. The line is about 5km from our home. It is amazing to watch the line gradually take shape, from what was simply fields. The plan is to link Tours and Bordeaux for a dedicated tgv (fast train) line, with all goods/local traffic taking the existing slower line via Ruffec. Here you see the crane which is part of the construction of the road bridge which will take us over the line.
