Big Sky

There was a lot of weather today. In the main, whenever we got out of the car it rained, and when we were in the car it was dry. That was fine, although even the dogs were alarmed by the ferocity of the precipitation which mostly came at us horizontally.

Highlight was lunch with friends who have just returned to Orkney after decades away. It was so good to see their brilliant new home which felt as though they'd been there for years, yet they'd only just moved in in June!

Afterwards, we headed to Tam's bookshop to pick up a couple of great Orkney publications, the best of which was "Found: Beach Combing in Orkney" a fantastic photographic record of Orcadians with their most exciting beach combing finds.

I'd hoped to have had the chance to do some sand-writing to record my 300th Blip but the weather was too fierce for the camera to cope with. Instead I grabbed this shot in between showers on a beach just along from Stromness.

Oh, Orkney, it will be hard to leave you tomorrow!
