Plant a tree in seventy three . . . .

. . . . . and then some more in seventy four! This campaign for more trees had a marked effect in our area with a long line of beautiful beeches lining the previously open main road. This little grove of about ten trees, mostly beech, was planted on a triangle of land in the centre of our village in 1973 and so they are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. They have grown so well in those forty years and it is hard to remember what the area was like before.
