Hallowe'en in Yuma
No witches or ghosts,
no vampires or zombies on
this Hallowe'en night.

I was hard-pressed to find much for Hallowe'en here. The grocery stores had their displays and more than their share of sweet treats, but I didn't see much for decorations or displays anywhere in my area. Tonight, no trick or treaters arrived at the door gathering their loot. Late in the day I took these shots in my local craft store. These were the pathetic leftovers in the clearance section as Hallowe'en had already been turfed in favour of Christmas.
My delight was to hear two Great Horned Owls on our street after dark. I'd heard them during the night yesterday. Tonight I heard them about 8 PM. I went outside without turning on any lights. I stood outside to listen and determined one was in the neighbour's palm tree and the other was in the next yard on top of the flag pole. I could identify them by their call although I couldn't see them well at all. One took off and flew about the neighbourhood. They have a wide wingspan and it was eery to see this big bird dimly lit in the neighbourhood lights as it flew.
