Going, going....
I guess you can get used to it. The first time I walked into this bathroom when we were looking at the house, it made me feel almost ill. I stood there and talked to Jim about how it was going to have to go, even though it looked as if it had been fairly recently remodeled. He (standing with his back to the vertical glass tile craziness) agreed that it was hard to take.
The kitchen had to be done first because there was no place to put anything. The library bookcases came next because there were 50 boxes of books in the garage, and the fireplace seemed like a fairly easy job (famous last words) so we tackled it next. It turned out to be such a mess that we decided to take a break for awhile. Now winter is approaching once more, a shower without a door is drafty, we're tired of squeegeeing the floor to keep the water from running into our closet, mopping up water from the impractical wooden counter that splashes out of the silly vessel sinks from the terrible faucets.
We will wait until after the Thanksgiving family gathering, but then the remodel begins. We went and chose tile and stones for the walls and floor, countertop and shower today. There will be a door for the shower with a sill to keep the water in. The sinks will be under the countertop and the faucets will not have to be turned on full blast in order to get hot water. There will be heat under the floor and a proper towel rack that is not in the shower. It will not be brown.
It will be the last remodel we ever do....
