Even more nearly there!
I’ve got washday hands. I’ve been doing all the other jobs that I’ve been putting off - cleaning the range hood and various other pleasures. It was easier today, because no more thoughts of, ‘Oh, I’ll need that, better just leave it’ - it’s ALL to be packed.
In fact, so fast off the mark was I this morning, that by midday I’d fairly well got everything under control, and didn’t mind so much wasting time walking miles round the house, in each room, looking for the scissors. Or the sellotape.
I popped into town to get a ‘Welcome to Your New Home’ card and a wee soft toy for the new toddler resident. I’m the faster shopper ever. Off the bus, into the first shop, bought a card and a wee monkey, out the door and back on the bus home in about 10 minutes.
Just as well I hadn’t planned to wander around town. The solicitors rang while I was waiting for the bus and asked if we were coming in today or tomorrow to sign something vital. First they’ve mentioned this, though they deny it. Would have been nice to have arranged it before the last minute...
‘Rather busy tomorrow. And what if we can’t come in today?’ (I was thinking, maybe Monday...)
‘Well, the sale won’t go through.’
‘OK- we’ll be there.’
One chap with the film crew has been standing at the top of the road all week, walking backwards and forwards, just looking around. He was there when I came home, so I stopped to speak to him. He was keeping an eye on the trucks on both roads. He was quite happy, as he said, '... being paid to do nothing.' As, I would say, are many of the folk in a film crew from my observations. I gave him a Rolo, a packet of which fell into my pocket when all I went into the shop for was milk.
BTW the No Parking sign went up this morning. And here’s me doubting the council…
