Tonight we went to the screening of a couple of classic films about the travelling people of the Highlands and Islands. The films were shown in the local art galley and cultural centre in Stornoway known as An Lanntair (The Lantern). Also being exhibited in the art galley is an exhibition in celebration of peat cutting, with historical photographs around the walls, a whole wall listing the specific Gaelic terminology of peat-cutting, and of course, a peat stack in the middle of the floor. Acually quite a work of art in itself! (You can see some of the peat-cutting "irons" leaning against the peat-stack. ....Well, if a pile of bricks at the Tate counts as art, this certainly does...!
