Prisoner 24601

Nostalgia

It's Halloween tomorrow.

Guisin' is a customary practice in the West of Scotland where weans 'dress up' and travel from hoose-tae-hoose and are rewarded for performing a 'turn', such as a song or a funny story with apples, oranges and monkey nuts.

Sadly the tradition is gradually being replaced by the American version called 'Trick or Treat', where the threat is that if the wean (who may or may not be dressed up) does not get a bag of sweeties he or she will break yer windaes (or some sort of other mischief).

Sigh.

Gone too are the days when dressing up was nothing more than wearing a black bin bag and adorning your face with a scary mask (like above).

Ach, kids today don't know how hard it was to breathe through those things.

Modern life is rubbish.
