Between fen and mountains

Quimper

We set out for a day out today and decided on Quimper. It was not my first visit but I had not been to the Breton museum before which proved very interesting. We were debating in the car if Brittany is the most distinctive of the French regions. Alsace Lorraine and Catalonia were also cosidered contenders but everyone would no doubt have a different opinion. Quite a lot of time was spent mooching around the old quarter with its pan de boishouses and narrow streets. On the way back we also visited Locronan, another of those plus beaux villages de France. I actually felt it had lost its heart to the tourist shops. although it did have a lot of attractive stone houses and an impressive church.
